The Botin Museum of Contemporary Art by Renzo Piano has been inaugurated
Centro Botin, the contemporary art museum in Santander
Renzo Piano has finally inaugurated the long awaited Centro Botín in Santander, Spain. The building, which occupies a surface area of over 8,000 m2, is the headquarters of a contemporary art museum. Piano conceived the project as a structure flying over the water, composed of two rounded volumes connected by a series of glass and steel walkways that form a sort of public square suspended over the lake. In its interior, exhibition rooms lit by modern, layered walls in glass, aluminum and white fabric, branch off and create the perfect atmosphere to display the various art installations. The project also houses a restaurant by a renowned chef, an auditorium, educational rooms and an amphitheater for outdoor cinema.
Renzo Piano, Made in Italy in the middle of the Spain
Renzo Piano has once again captured the essence of place, enveloping it in within an architectural structure that fuses into the environment with timeless, Made In Italy design.
