BALCOTEC system for the construction of a terrace in Caserta

 

In the province of Caserta, the redevelopment of an outdoor terrace, measuring about 150 square meters, was recently completed, requiring a solution that would ensure not only waterproofing and protection from infiltration, but also the structural durability of the flooring over time. Terraces, in fact, are constantly exposed to weather and temperature fluctuations, factors that can generate significant stresses in the screed and cause cracks or detachment of the tiles. It was essential to find a system that would prevent these problems and ensure a long life for the new flooring.

 

The solution: the BALCOTEC system

 

To meet these needs, the choice fell on the BALCOTEC system, a complete solution designed specifically for outdoor terraces and balconies.

 

 

In this case, only some of the components of the BALCOTEC system were used, specifically:

 

• FLOORTEC: the desolidarizing membrane capable of creating an effective barrier against infiltration, safeguarding the underlying screed from moisture and preventing structural damage. Moreover, thanks to its special conformation, it allows to absorb and distribute the stresses generated by the movements of the substrate (due, for example, to thermal variations or structural settlements), eliminating the risk of cracks and breaks in the tiles.

 

• FOILTEC and KOLLTEC: To ensure maximum sealing at the most critical points, such as joints between membranes, the FOILTEC waterproofing membrane strip was used. This element is essential for sealing each joint, preventing the passage of water and vapor. It was applied with KOLLTEC, the special single-component adhesive that ensures perfect adhesion and additional security against all types of infiltration.

 

• SHOWERTEC STC-DC central drain: To effectively manage rainwater runoff and prevent stagnation that could compromise the structure and flooring, the STC-DC central drain was installed. Designed specifically for outdoor areas, this drain ensures quick and efficient drainage, contributing significantly to the overall protection of the terrace.

 

 

Thanks to the application of the BALCOTEC system, the Caserta terrace has been transformed into a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly, functional and durable. The combination of FLOORTEC, FOILTEC with KOLLTEC and STC-DC created a complete protection system, ensuring:

 

• Secondary waterproofing that protects the screed: maximum safety against water infiltration.
• Improved durability of the flooring: by compensating for expansion stresses between the substrate and ceramic coating, it makes the latter safe from cracking and detachment.
• Compensation for vapor pressure, allowing the flooring to be laid without having to wait for the entire curing period of the screed.

 

This project in Caserta testifies to how the BALCOTEC system can offer concrete and durable solutions to the most complex challenges in the construction sector, ensuring greater durability for those who live in the spaces and for those who create them.
